What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a healthcare profession that focuses on diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal disorders and their effects on the nervous system. Chiropractors use non-invasive methods to adjust the spine and other joints in the body to relieve pain, improve mobility, and restore normal function to the nervous system. Chiropractors believe that misalignments in the spine can cause a range of health problems and that by correcting these misalignments, the body can heal itself.

Chiropractors typically use a combination of manual therapy, including spinal manipulation and mobilization, massage, and stretching, as well as other non-invasive treatments such as ultrasound, heat, and ice therapy. Chiropractic treatment is often used to treat conditions such as back pain, neck pain, headaches, and joint pain. In addition to treating these conditions, chiropractors may also provide advice on exercise, nutrition, and lifestyle changes to promote overall health and well-being.

Chiropractic is considered a complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) practice and is regulated by state licensing boards. Chiropractors are required to complete extensive training in anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics, as well as hands-on clinical training. Dr. Littlejohn treats a wide variety of conditions, as well as patients ranging from infants to senior citizens. Chiropractic care is safe and effective. All patients are examined and screened for underlying medical conditions. Referrals to a variety of medical providers will occur if deemed appropriate.
